Call for Abstract – How to Write Effective Learning Objectives

Please Note: Honoraria, accommodation, travel, or other associated expenses are not covered by the conference. All presenters are required to register, and pay the full registration fee.


Abstract Submission Guidelines

Please submit an abstract you would like to contribute for a concurrent session
Please allow a minimum of 25% of the presentation time for discussion and interaction between presenter(s) and the audience
Abstract maximum length is 250 words

Abstracts must be submitted through the online electronic submission form (linked in “Call for Abstracts is now open” above)

Submissions must clearly indicate your preferred length and format options:

Length Options:

  • 30 or 45 minute STANDARD LECTURE
  • 30 or 45 minute PANEL SESSION (A panel session will involve a formal discussion between 3 presenters of relevant ideas and topics)
  • 30 or 45 minute DEBATE (A debate will involve discussing opposing views on a selected topic. After each presenter has presented, they will discuss the advantages or disadvantages of each view, and conclude the session with a summary)
  • Interactive POSTER PRESENTATION (Poster board size is 4’ x 8’ (1.2 x 2.4 m) all materials must fit within this space)

Please also include the following information:

1. Author Information: Please provide a complete list of authors (up to 10) including suffix, title, affiliation and organization, if applicable

2. Author Information: Please advise who will be presenting (up to 3 presenters max). Please indicate the following for all presenters, listing the primary presenter first: presenter name, suffix, title, organization name, street address (work), city, province/state, postal code, telephone numbers, and email address. The primary presenter will receive an abstract submission confirmation via email

3. Conference Themes:

  • Best Practice/ Quality Improvement
  • New Research
  • Clinical Update

4. Specialty Topic: Please indicate the relevant topics that your abstract will cover:

  • Prenatal/ Antenatal Care
  • Intrapartum
  • Post Partum

  • Newborn
  • Community and Population Health
  • Acute Care

  • Primary Care
  • Perinatal
  • Other

5. Body of Abstract: Please provide a presentation description of 250 words maximum including:

  • Background/ rationale
  • 3 learner-oriented learning objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion
  • How this will impact patients

6. Synopsis: Provide a brief 50-word description of your session to be inserted into the program brochure if
your abstract is accepted for presentation.

7. Biographies: Provide brief 75-word biographies of all presenters
