Kristina Hiemstra
Director

Kristina Hiemstra, Director, has been with IPCE since 2003. She grew up in Sweden and holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Linköping University. In advance of working for the University of British Columbia she was with the Burnaby Board of Trade. When not working she enjoys being with her family.

Katia Despot
Senior Education Manager
(Currently on Maternity Leave)

Katia was born and raised in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia and moved to Canada in 2002. She graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business specializing in Human Resource Management. Katia loves traveling and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys practicing yoga, reading and swimming.

Jo Nam
Senior Education Manager

Jo initially joined the IP team as a UBC Sauder School of Business co-op student, and has returned for a full-time position. She has a major in Business and a minor in Philosophy, all at UBC. She likes to read a lot and listen to music.

Cris Ohno
Financial Assistant

Cris Ohno has decided to retire early and her last day at UBC will be April 30th.  Cris’ contributions are invaluable and many. She started working at UBC in June 1990,  in Financial Services (now UBC Finance). She later worked with UBC Conference and Accommodation, and since October 2006 she has been in the role of Financial Assistant, for Interprofessional Continuing Education and Continuing Dental Education. A true member of the UBC 25 Year Club! Cris is loved among her colleagues. Her team spirit, great sense of humour and impeccable attention to detail in her work will be missed.

Kathryn Booth
Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Kathryn was born in Edmonton and raised in Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Carleton University in Ottawa, before moving to Vancouver in 2013. When not at work she spends her time reading, catching up on TV, and cooking (or baking) for her eternally grateful friends.

Max Manopchantaroj
Program Assistant

Max was born in Thailand and has since, relocated to a few different countries. He received a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia. Outside of the office, he enjoys hiking, snowboarding, cooking, and doing various DIY projects.
